Tempe police make swift arrest in robbery

A suspected robber, who pointed a handgun at a fast food employee’s head, was arrested and booked into jail within hours of his crime.

 Tempe police arrested Derrick Anthony Pablo, 27 (DOB: 5/21/81), in his city of residence, Litchfield park, early Wednesday morning following a robbery of a Tempe Taco Bell, located 835 W. Baseline Road.

 The robbery occurred at 9:41 p.m. on Tuesday and at 12:47 a.m. police had Pablo in custody.

 Investigation has revealed that Pablo entered the Taco Bell and pointed a handgun at several employees, while demanding money from the registers and safe. During the robbery, Pablo also pointed the handgun directly at the head of one employee.

 Pablo stole cash from the restaurant and fled in a vehicle, which was later located.

 Pablo was contacted and arrested in Litchfield Park after he attempted to call his vehicle in as stolen.

 He was booked into Tempe City Jail on one count armed robbery.
